Carswell Lewis opened Lewis Auto Body in 1935 along the highway in Macon, Missouri, originally serving the community as a service station providing mechanical maintenance, oil changes, tire service, and general vehicle repairs.
As vehicles and technology evolved, so did the shop. Over the decades, Lewis Auto Body expanded beyond basic mechanical service into full-service automotive repair, including engine and suspension work, diagnostics, preventative maintenance, tire sales, auto glass replacement, and collision repair - all under one roof.
In 1967, Robert “Big Bob” Lewis took over the business after returning from the Air Force, continuing the family tradition of honest mechanical repair and dependable workmanship.
Today, under third-generation ownership with Cody Lewis, Lewis Body Shop and Glass remains committed to high-quality mechanical repair, preventative maintenance, and long-term vehicle reliability for drivers throughout Macon and surrounding Missouri communities.
